If you want to ignite your STEM curiosity and learn more about what’s going on in the fantastical world of science, check out these happenings at science museums all around the United States.

Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County
Los Angeles, California
Research Project: BioSCAN
You might think more about the human occupants of the world’s largest city than the insect ones, but this project — the world’s largest biodiversity study — is shedding a unique light on the latter, giving the community a better grasp on just how many species actually call the Los Angeles area home. It also takes a deeper dive into how natural areas surrounding the city impact the type and variety of insects living there.

California Science Center
Los Angeles, California
Exhibit: Mission 26: The Big Endeavor
It’s not easy to move a massive space shuttle like Endeavor from Cape Canaveral, Florida to its current resting place at the California Science Center. Check out the photos of the journey, from flying on the back of a Boeing 747 to traveling the streets of downtown Los Angeles.

New York, New York
Workshop: Design-Make-Play STEM Institute
Teaching complicated STEM topics is no small feat. That’s why the New York Hall of Science is offering ongoing workshops to give instructors guidance on how to teach everything from the properties of light to how animals adapt across different biomes. The workshops are divided by age groups so teachers can receive information exactly as they would teach it.
