For a student attending West Los Angeles College, the opportunity to start a career in STEM is now closer to reality than ever before. As of Spring 2015, Base 11 has partnered with WLAC and various satellite programs at neighboring schools like Caltech, providing the first taste of a four-year degree and path towards a dream STEM career. The simple equation of curiosity and ambition now results in opportunities that prepare and support students in the trajectory of their choosing.

The Caltech Aerospace Mentorship Program partners WLAC students with Caltech graduate students who mentor, inspire, and guide each individual through a 10-week course where a project is defined and developed from start to finish. Immersed in life on the Caltech campus, WLAC students experience the journey of walking in the footsteps of a Caltech student on their way towards their Ph.D. and STEM career. From the ability to participate in research groups, on-campus seminars, field trips, social and cultural activities, and individualized one-on-one mentorship with a Caltech student, the opportunity for growth is limitless.

In addition to the 10-week summer program, Caltech and Base 11 offer a slightly modified year-round program to supplement students’ current studies at WLAC. For students ready to take a deeper dive into a STEM career and further education, these programs align with the potential for maximum long-term success.

Not only does Base 11 plan on expanding the funnel outwards with additional university partnerships, but the opportunity to further a STEM career will also be right on campus. By the end of 2015, Base 11 will facilitate the STEM EI program and become a satellite for the UAS (unmanned air systems) with Aerodrome programs. With the rapidly growing need for drone pilots, engineers, and STEM-related careers that align with the skills acquired from these programs, the student is set up for success. Is that student you?

The opportunity to advance your career, your potential income stream, and advance opportunities in tech is at your fingertips if you’re ready to take your ambition to the next level. To learn more about how to get involved in the programs Base 11 offers, inquire here. (link.)
